Cancer Genetic Counseling
How Can Clover Genetics Help?
Cancer Risk Assessment:
Schedule an appointment with a certified genetic counselor to discuss your personal genetic predisposition to developing cancer, or regarding your current or previous cancer diagnosis, and to assist in informing decision-making for deciding for or against obtaining genetic testing or alternatives.
What is cancer genetics?
Cancer is caused by a change in genes, also known as a gene variant. A gene variant can be inherited or can be acquired during a person’s life. One aspect of cancer genetics is to identify individuals and families with an increased risk of developing cancer due to inherited gene variants and provide counseling on the proactive and preventative measures they can take to reduce their risk. The second aspect of cancer genetics addresses the potential for cancer treatments based on an individual’s specific cancer cells. Genetic counseling can help cancer patients, or patients in remission, identify the best and most customized treatment options available.
